A hundred years agoour territory was overwhelmed by the inexorable destruction of the Great War. The front tears the individual and collective history of the people of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, leaving, for these lands, a dramatic historical legacy to relate to. The centennial anniversary has given space to many proposals from associations and organizations that have allowed us to better understand the history, the places of the battles and to address the theme of war through literature, art or music.
The calendar of eventsincludes a total of about 330 days of activity, which will converge in May with a major event near the Sacrarium of Redipuglia. Some presentation and dissemination activities will take place in a second geographical zone, outside Friuli-Venezia Giulia, but next to it: the areas of Slovenia, Emilia Romagna and Veneto (such as Treviso and Crevalcore), with the aim of channeling towards Friuli-Venezia Giulia the interest of neighboring audience. There are also some important events abroad (United States of America, Hungary).
The programof events and reviews on the theme of the First World War derives from the desire of three associations, IoDeposito, Ajser 2000 and Pro Loco Fogliano Redipuglia, to weave the calendars of their Festivals – Voices of war in peacetime, B#Side War and # StoryTellersWW1 – proposing to the public a broad, widespread and coordinated cultural proposal that deals with the theme of the Great War, by relying on different languages and fields: from historiography to artistic re-elaboration. The project was financed by the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
